neat ideas
A "needle book" is a little fabric book made so you can poke your sewing needles through the pages. Looks very useful and easy to make. Check out the inside of one.
I swear I saw a really beautiful crocheted lace necklace somewhere, but I can't find it again. Instead, I found this crocheted lace choker which I made last night. (Alterations: on row 3, I made the chains 10 stitches long, and I omitted row 4.) Crocheted jewelry is surprisingly easy and fun! And pretty. I have this little ball of #10 crochet thread and I was thinking of making some more crochet jewelry. Nice little projects to make while sitting at my computer at home (the choker only took me an hour or so).
And then I got this terrible, scary idea - what about tatting? I don't know if I'm crazy enough to consider tatting. But you sure can make pretty stuff with it.
I absolutely love this anatomical teddy bear. Like the needle books, it's from the Flickr craft pool.

About Beth
I am a freelance writer, based in Pittsburgh, PA, specializing in science and technical topics. Yes, I am available for new writing projects!
I don't know about needle tatting, but shuttle tatting is even more portable than knitting or crocheting, especially if you're doing something small like a bookmark or a small doily. I keep mine in the little zippered cosmetics/feminine stuff pocket of my purse. It comes in handy when I'm stuck by a long, slow train. If I get too caught up in it to notice that the train's gone by, I can just drop it in my lap when the cars behind me honk.
